The american flag fish sound interesting, am reading up more. Are these a
species of killie? One source on the web described them as such, another as
"pupfish" but I have not found anything that correlates the two. Is
"pupfish" a synonym for killie?
It is a special class of killifish, that includes the *J. floridae*,
American-Flag Fish, the *Cyprinodons* and the *Garmenella pulchra*. All
are killifish.
It is just a general catch-all name that describes their typical
behaviour and distinctive shape. Sorta like "Lampeyes" describes a
number of species of schooling killies.
