Re: [Killietalk] drilling glass
Well you might want to talk to a professional on this one, first, SOME tanks
are made from tempered glass , drilling, cutting, grinding or anything other
than siliconing it in place will cause it to blow out into hundreds of
beautiful squares. I know , I took a shipment of 42 pieces of 8 X 4 bronzed
glass that was a cancelled order. We were going to use it to surround a
friends pool. one problem, we went to cut donw the first piece and the whole
thing blew out, all 42 pieces were tempered and all i could do was find
someone else that needed that exact size and that exact color, it ended up
becomming the bedding for a new brick patio. Worked well. Weighed a few
tons.
But as for the drilling, any heat will break glass, you need specialised
cutting bitts or heads and you need a water bath to keep heat down. Like I
said, for all the tools and ETC you might as well contact a glass fabricator
and job it out to them. IMHO
