Humnnnn.  That's now what I heard.  Check out this guy's experience.  He goes through a lot of hot water and claims it cut his bill by 25%.  It looks pretty slick to me.

Those were pretty expensive the last time I checked, and according to
Consumer Reports "not hot enough to take a shower".
I'd buy a little electric water heater.
