Re: [Killietalk] Important

Good Morning/afternoon/evening "Killiepeople",
Wow, I must have missed the thread, but I reviewed a few posts, so I should
be too far off the topic?
I've been staying on top of these security problems for years, they have
escalated.
5 yrs back we were entertained with maybe one new nuisance a month maybe a
week, now it's 5-7 per day. Most are "Re-hashed" common codes, most
anti-viral programs recognize bits of these programs and deny their access
or ability to execute their programs. Truly new code is very rare.
Simply having at least 1 if not 2 antivirus programs that are updated daily
or weekly will keep your system/systems clean and working but it's the users
who are cheap or don't want to recognize the danger that are the problem.
They unknowingly let these nuisance programs enter their systems and access
their address books where the program spreads it's self by replicating and
sending copies of it's self to all their contacts one being this listserv.
So who's to blame, usually no one, the person who has the infected system
are not educated on these topics or could care less. so it's up to those of
us who are aware of the dangers to not open attachments, thusly we can stay
safe.

The "self executing email virus" is more "urban myth" than reality. Other's
have spoke out about them but personally I have yet to see a virus you can
get by just downloading email from the server.

Good bit of code written into basic "Windows" makes it impossible for a
program to execute it's self. yes there are programs that will execute but
it's because someone else executed it , case in point, a Pirated Copy of
windows XP, you don't register it with Microsoft (which you can't since it
was already registered by the original software owner) Microsoft recognizes
a cloned (ripped, copied, pirated) "XP" program and deletes it from your
operating system ending with a catastrophic system failure.
Moral of this story:

SO DON'T STEAL SOFTWARE, YOU WOULD'NT WANT SOMEONE NOT PAYING YOU FOR YOUR
WORK.
