Use Maracyn I it as a devastating effect on cynobacteria along with
darkening the tank for the length of the treatment period. If there is a
filter with carbon running on the tank, remove the carbon for the
treatment period (approximately 5 days).
Remember _after_ the treatment period is over you must change at least
50% of the water and put the carbon back in the filter. Please dispose
of the water in your garden or elsewhere safe, I for one do not dispose
of the treated water in the drains it may get in the water system.
Another point you might check into is what "dried food" you are using as
some have a really high amount of phosphates which does help to bring
about and feed the cynobacteria. I find that when I cut or eliminate a
certain brand it comes in line and is the growth is inhibited.
Of course YMMV as Wright is known to say, but it worked for me.
