Re: [Killietalk] SG of 1 tbsp per 5 gallon of water
Good idea. My hanna combo meter (98129) measures up to 4000ms, which is quite a bit higher than I keep my water at. 1 tablespoon of salt/5 gallons water came out to ~1100ms in my tap water.
Thanks for the help.

The range of some conductivity meters may not go as high as the desired range
for this use. Certainly my Hanna TDS meter (a conductivity meter in disguise)
only goes to 1000 ppm TDS which is about 3000 microsiemens/cm on a
conductivity scale. Also mix well before measuring. Here are some very quick numbers I just measured:
Hanna TDS Pinpoint Conductivity
Tap water 198 331
plus 1/4 tsp. salt/gal 526 1060
plus 1 tsp. salt/gal >1000 4260
Meanwhile a specific gravity reading is still 1.000
