RE: [Killietalk] WEld-on??
Mark,
My experience is that one should never use alcohol of any sort on
acrylic. The alcohol gets into tiny cracks along the cut edge and
initiates further cracking. I'm not sure of the mechanism by which this
happens but wiping down a cut edge with alcohol will most certainly
initiate cracking along that edge. This happened to me when cleaning
acrylic that was cut on a band saw. It is possible that a smoother cut
will not initiate cracking when exposed to alcohol but I won't try it
again. I use baking soda to clean freshly cut acrylic edges and it
seems to work well enough.
Cheers,
Chris

Aw the Acrylic cement. OK, try any place that sells acrylic (plexiglas),
they will have it , look up plastics supplies. Also if that doesn't work
go
by the locqal sugn company as they use this stuff all the time . . It's
a
good product but do make sure you start with straight true edges and
that
they are very clean (denatured alcohol works well on removing oils and
other
crud which prevents the edges from bonding).
Hope this helps, Mark
