Maybe some scrap plate or auto glass would work as vertical dividers. Of 
course any vertical divider transfers the load to the shelf below which also must 
be supported. In my case, for bookshelves, plywood as vertical dividers works. 
For fish tanks, two by fours as shelf material in the vertical orientation 
work.
