Re: [Killietalk] help with Aplocheilus Panchax

Hiya Scott,
Thanks for the heads up. I'm no IT bloke and still grasping with these
pages. Just having fun while on the learning curve and ought to master
it by the time I hit 'geezer' status... ;o)

These did fine initially as both were similarly sized. The Badis were
painfully slow in growing-out and took some hits. That said, the
panchax's growth rate is on par with the australes.
'Chequered' would be an understatement when out-growing Simp constanciae
and Spotted BlueEye (Pseudomugil gertrudae) together. The simp grew
really fast and snacked on the blueeyes! :o(

While some panchax and half-beaks are native and can still be found,
these species are being displaced/replaced by 'estate development' and
indiscriminate dumping of introduced fishes.
Those featured in the essay are from Madan, a fellow Killies.com forumer
from India and were hand carried to Singapore, together with the Blue
Badis, Goa Killies and a few species of medakas.
I did a brief page on the Blue Badis at;
http://www.angelfire.com/journal2/fishz/BlueBadis/Wild_Blue_Badis_Badis.html
and Goa Killies (Aplochelius Kirchmayeri) at;
http://www.angelfire.com/journal2/fishz/AplocheliusKirchmayeri/Aplochelius_Kirchmayeri.htm
Incidentally, although the 'Blue' and 'Scarlet' are both badis species,
the juveniles looked very different, that I thought I found otocinclus
affinis fry;

Sorry Scott, but I don't get the drift. Can you expand on that?
