RE: [Killietalk] Canary in an aquarium

John some of mine is dieing back at this very moment. The problem
doesn't appear to be effecting the entire aquarium just a small piece.
Maybe it has something to do with the time of year? Anyone else seeing
strange things happen to their hornwort?

Subject: [Killietalk] Canary in an aquarium

I have heard that people have kept water sprite as an indicator of water
quality. What about hornworth? My hornworth, until the last couple
weeks,
grew well. However, most of it has died and disintegrated in the last
few
weeks. Is this a water quality problem? I first noticed it after I did
a
major water change. With all the discussion of chloramine I thought
that
might be the problem. Monday I called my local utilities water test
engineer. She assured me that they do not, and have no intentions of,
using
chloramine, just straight chlorine.

A few details: It's a 30 gal tank, heavily planted - Amazon sword, java
moss, java fern and a couple unidentified plants - 1pr kribs and 2 pr
gardneri. All plants are growing well except the hornworth.

Thanks for your inputs.
John in Huntsville.
