RE: [Killietalk] Comments on strange use of a Fluval???

This sounds like a good idea but I would add that the fluval is a pain
to clean. I have a bunch of them and eventually went to putting sponge
filters on the intakes so I wouldn't have to open the canisters anymore.
I would suggest incorporating an easier prefilter into your system.
There are many return pumps that have prefilter attachments. Using one
of those would allow you to simply reach into the sump, remove the
prefilter and wash it in the sink. This would be much easier than
disassembling the fluval, replacing the media, and putting it all back
together without it leaking all over the place. That said those
canisters are great while they are up and running and not in need of
maintenance.

Good luck and let us know how your project goes.
