The flag emitters that I use are from www.dripworksusa.com and can be taken 
apart and cleaned, I have been using them with my once through system from tap 
water that goes through a particulate filter and a carbon filter with filter 
floss and I still get occasional plugging that requires cleaning. With a 
recirculating system, you would need even more filtration, in my opinion.
