[Killietalk] publications

Tom, this is a great topic for discussion. I agree that the AKA could do
much in the area of publications and this was something we had hoped to
emphasize last year. The money is there and in fact, publications are
never really a simple EXPENSE because we will get back, or probably make
a profit, on every and any publication we put out. The problem last yea
was that NO-ONE came forth with a single volume of anything that was
publishable.

The key here is AUTHORS. We need authors that have something ready to
publish in order to make this happen. We can talk all we want about what
we would like to see published, but it takes an author, knowledge and
work to make it into a publishable volume. Once that's done, the
publishing is the easy part.

I have seen the trouble we get into when we tell the membership that
something is GOING to be published, before it is ready or there is a
firm plan to get it out on a specific date.

So a "wish list" is great, but who is going to find someone to write it?

Still, I agree that your forum topic is a good idea. Maybe someone with
time and knowledge will be encouraged to begin writing.

Subject: [Killietalk] AKA Surplus Funds

Barry Cooper:

One of the side topics on the members form is the subject of surplus
funds
and things we would like to see the AKA publish.

Could we establish a form topic "Books I Would Like to Have the AKA
Publish"?

Should I have read the fine print and done this my self from the form?

Thanks;

Tom McLean
