[Killietalk] S sp. Guinea [was RE: More Fish for West Coast Weekend!!!!!]

Brian and Stan,

Maybe this will help with the ID of the so-called S. sp. guinea:

I also suspect they could be S. geryi. Looking through my database, I find that about two years ago (either late in 2001 or early in 2002) I got some fish directly from Roy Ingersoll, which were (carefully) labelled as:

Scriptaphyosemion (Roloffia) geryi Guinea CI (f1)

I know that he had a fairly large population of these fish going. When Roy passed away, I believe Sue Bunte distributed many pairs throughout the West Coast (i.e. I imagine many made it to BAKA meetings and WCW, and some definitely made it to the SCKC and the SDKG meetings). In fact, Sue sent me an extra couple of pairs in the Summer of 02. Unfortunately, I never took any pictures, gave some away, and eventually lost them. My guess, however, is that the fish in question are descendants of Roy's fish.

Hi Stan,

I believe these are the S. geryi that we got a couple of years ago,
although I could be wrong. I know that Oliver Lucanus brought in some
un-Id'd Scripts. Last year from around Mt. Nimba. They looked like they
had the checkerboard pattern to the red spots on the sides of the males
that I associate more with S. chaytori. Oh, and no zig-zag pattern to
the females. I saw them once and then they disappeared, is anyone still
breeding those?

A question for the Rollofia experts:

S. sp. guinea (spelling ?)
Is this S. cauveti and, if so, what is the correct
        name for this collection?
