Thanks for the tip.  As of now I have them on a recirculating system of 2.5 gal plastic tanks, and am thinking of putting some peat pellets in an empty tank to see if there is something in the peat which signals them to breed, or if they actually prefer it as a spawning material.  If all else fails I will try what you suggested with the blender etc.  Thanks a lot.
