RE: [Killietalk] Chlorine and Chloramine.

I realize that Wright has asked that we let this topic rest in peace but
I thought I would add a little information from this side of the
continent.  According to my water company, They only use Chlorine.  They
do not add any ammonia to the water.  They do not know of any EPA
mandate requiring them to do so.  They went as far as to say that 90% of
the country does not use Chloramine???  Is it possible that this mandate
is a California mandate?

Now I don't want to disagree with Wright without solid proof.  It is
possible that my water company's customer service department is ill
informed.  It is also possible that our water falls below whatever
minimum requires the addition of ammonia.  I asked them to send me a
water quality report. 

Unfortunately I do not have a chlorine test kit or any hypo and as I
understand it an ammonia test kit will not detect chloramines, so I
can't test the water to be sure.

I'll update when the water quality report arrives.
