Re: [Killietalk] Ammonia-eating plants

Knowing that plants love to eat ammonia, I've always just included some java moss in my water aging buckets, let it sit for a couple of days, then use the water. Never have used Amquel or charcoal - but then I don't have a flow-thru system, either.

I've never had any trouble with this method, even doing near 100% water changes on very small fry - BUT - this thread has made me concerned that I may be flirting with disaster. So...is the ammonia in chloramine available to plants? Am I safe in continuing to rely on the java moss to wipe out the ammonia, and the 48 hours to dissipate the chlorine?

Advice is appreciated.
