Re: [Killietalk] Cloromine
To remove clorine from the water put one drop of hypo into the water. One
drop will clear one gallon of clorine from the water. I do not know what
the effect it has on fish over a period of a long time. I have used it and
there were no ill effects. Of course, I don't use it all the time; only
when there is an emergency.

BTW, "taste and odor" filter inserts, at your local hardware store, are
good activated carbon and will work well to remove chlorine and
chloramine. I have even used the ones with ice-maker kits!

Actually, I got the idea for using activated carbon when my wife got a
Brita
water pitcher and I was immediately impressed with how well it removed the
chlorine taste, so t tested the water and it was zero chlorine and lasted
for
months. Later I found some references to the capability of activated carbon
to
remove chlorine. Our tap water tests at 4-5 ppm chlorine, although the
water
company claims it is much less.
