My P 82 are very red & breed well. I have 2 lines of Jos Plateau, one of
which from the AKA sent over as eggs which hatched out as 1 male & 15
females. Some of these surplus females were given to another breeder to
strengthen the line. This line has been maintained in the UK for some years.
We have Rayfield also since 1978 but need new blood as they are becoming
difficult. The chances of finding any others is a bit remote I think.
Regarding Akure, I have 3 lines currently which I keep seperate. One carries
the name 'Blauw' (blue). This is not a blue phase fish but the blue refers
to the blue edging in the pectorals. Another form has very wide red
submarginal bands in the unpaired fins & the other is the standard Akure
circulated at auctions in the UK.
You might try cooling the water for Jos Plateau. One of my breeding tanks is
near the floor & they lay enough eggs to keep me going.
Populations of gardneri I maintain are; Akure, Misaje Gold, Nsukka, Lafia,
Jos Plateau, Ossing, Akamkpa, P82.
I would be interested in exchanging for anything not on this list in the
spring. This area is my contribution to the BKA conservation project.
The West African site has many photos of gardneri populations
