I made the first one with a five foot length of 1-1/4 inch PVC pipe with
screw on caps at both ends. I tapped in threaded connectors from Dripworksusa.com
at both ends
Item 14TTB 1/4" threaded $.15
If you are going to stand the pipe on the floor one end needs to be tapped in
on the side.
I stuffed filter floss (about two inches) in the bottom end above the
threaded connector. Then I poured in any good activated carbon until the pipe is
filled to about two inches below the upper connector. Then added about two inches
of filter floss. Then you screw on the caps. The tubing goes to the bottom
connector from the water source and out the top to wherever you want it to go.
The carbon lasts about five months before I begin to detect chlorine.
