Re: [Killietalk] Drip emiters vs. valves

I would suggest that in any water system you design that you include a valve in your return line to your water storage tank. This will allow you to open and close this valve to create as much back pressure in your supply line to your tanks or fry boxes. This in effect regulates the water pressure in the line.

I am trying to design a water system for my tank rack which happens to be 6 ft. high. Since I want to get water to some fry boxes on the top shelf, I will have to pump it at least 7 ft. high. Can I use plastic tubing and drip emiters, or will there be too much pressure from the water pump? If so, I will have go to pvc pipe and valves. If I need pvc, can I use 1/2 in pipe or should I go larger to accomodate the valves? The shelf is only 4 ft long, so once I get the water to the top, gravity should do the rest.
