Since 1978 I have heated the majoriity of my tanks with the hot water from my water heater. My tanks set directly on top of two 1/2 in. copper tubing that is connected to a solar heat pump pulling hot water from the water heater. The temperature is controlled by on old Supreme tank heater that I removed the heating element from and connected it to the pump. I know this sounds pretty primitive but it has only failed me twice in all these years. The key to this set up is the solar heat pump, if any one is interested please contact me and I can help you get past a major pitfall.      Duane
