Karen I have seen some systems that have copper pipes running under the
tanks the pipes have hot water them and they form a loop to the water
heater. when a thermostat say the tanks need heat a circulating pump is
turned on and warm water flows in the pipes the tanks that are sitting on
the pipes get heated. there is also styro insulation under the pipes to keep
the heat in.
