[Killietalk] which tanks for a breeder rack?

I have fish coming out my ears at this point, but I don't have much space to expand. Having one pair of fish in a 5.5 seems like I'm not making the best use of my space. I want to build a recirculating rack for pairs or trios of fish, and use my other tanks for fry growout or bigger fish. I'm a renter, so altering the plumbing for a continuous water change system is out of the question for now. I'm pretty familiar with plumbing and the general methodology behind central filtration, but I really can't decide on what tanks (or boxes) to use.

I would like my breeder tanks to be large enough to accomodate a pair or trio of fish, but waste little space. This would allow me to keep a large variety of different species before deciding on my favorites in which to further specialize my efforts.

So how big of a box do I need? Storage container? Glass? Acrylic? I'm leaning towards standard all-glass 2.5's, but I wouldn't be saving a lot of space, or any money by going that route. Same deal with kritter keepers.

Another thought was custom acrylic tanks, 48"x18"x6", and partitioning into 6-8 different compartments. Just an idea. Share your wisdom with me...
