I can supply one anecdote that supports that hypothesis. This past summer I
put the usual group of White Clouds in a 125 gallon pool on my back porch. I
usually have put out White Clouds and a couple pairs of Aphyosemions. Each
previous year I had a nice crop of next generation White Clouds and occasional
Aphyosemion fry. This past summer I added a trio of Jordanella floridae to the
pool along with the White Clouds. At the end of summer when I drained the pool
for the winter (it is above ground on a deck and would freeze solid). I found
many baby J. floridae but only the original adult White Clouds. I think they
are good algae eaters (they cleaned up the hair algae) but also good fry eaters.
