[Killietalk] arnoldi story
Here is another story on how I got arnoldi fry.
I received my arnoldi from Bobby, (thanks for the frustration, hopefully
one day I can get even with you ;).
Bobby sent me 3 pairs, I put peat in with them right away and started
collecting eggs. After 2 weeks I would place the peat in water and wait a
few days nothing happened. After a week I would dry the peat and try again
after 2 weeks, and then try again. This would go on till week 11 where I
would just reuse the peat again. I did this for about 6 months before I
gave up. I never got a single fry the entire time.
Here goes for the fun part.
After my last bag of peat had been wet at 11 weeks I put the peat in with
some Nothos. I took the peat out after several weeks and dried the peat
for 8 weeks. When I put the peat into the water I got about 20 fry. I
figured that they were all Notho's.
After about 2 months it was pretty obvious that there were 2 different
species of fish in the tank. As it turned out I have 2/3's of the fish are
Arnoldi and the remaining are Nothos.
Those arnoldi eggs went 11 weeks as arnoldi and then another 8 as
Nothos. You guys can figure out what happened but I think that I will let
my arnoldi go closer to 20 weeks before wetting them next time I have adults.
