[Killietalk] Arnoldi

Hi George,

I keep arnoldi peat fairly damp but dry enough to be able to fluff. I
dry it a few hours between newspaper after collecting it -- without squeezing
it. I keep the storage bags filled with air too and stored at about 74-76F. I
hatch them in soft acid water and start feeding with green water, java moss
from an established tank, a few small pond snails and baby brine shrimp. They
always take at least 2 days to start hatching and delayed hatching has been the
story and worry for arnoldi since Scheel's strain of the 60's -- the only
other record we have of an aquarium strain. The male fry can ruin their caudals
fighting and arnoldi throws males that develop pinched caudals, so be highly
selective when choosing breeders. The color range is wide too -- from ugly
non-descript fish to some real beauties with huge caudals, so watch closely.
