There are many kinds of cysts. The term is used to describe an early life
stage with a protective wall. In the case of brine shrimp, I think the term cyst
is used for the capsule that protects parthenogenetic offspring, whereas the
term egg is reserved for sexually produced offspring. I'm not certain of this,
and I may be mixing apples and oranges, but I think this is correct.
