Other benefits of the brine shrimp lights - they provide a "moon" which
keeps killies from startling as easily in the dark or when lights go on and
off on timers. Maybe the killies also stay off the tank bottom
(bacterialand) a little more and in apple snail tanks they keep out of
harm's way more easily.

Also - and most significantly in Park Forest - it keeps klutzy aquarists
from clobbering themselves searching for something after "lights out."
