RE: [Killietalk] how long to hatching?

As Lee stated, it depends if they are ready. In my limited experience
(only a few months keeping killies), I usually get some fry anywhere
from an hour to 30 hours. After 30 hours, no more seem to hatch. I
give it another day or so to make sure, and then bag the peat up again
for further incubation.

I'm new to it, but had a local club member (thanks Vern!) talk with
me/show me about incubating and hatching eggs. Vern went through a bag
of peat with me, and pointed out a bunch of eggs. They are easier to
spot when you have seen them at least once before. He also showed me
what an eyed up egg looks like. That you will definitely remember after
you see one, with its eyeball peering out of the egg. Very cool!
Thanks to Vern's help, I know what to look for... and when I got home
from his place, I checked two batches of eggs... both of which I hatched
out some fry that evening.

Find a local club where a member can do the same for you... it really
helps.

Subject: [Killietalk] how long to hatching?

I finally got the hatching tank setup for my nothos, and last night I
added a couple inches of water plus the peat containing eggs. I didn't
see any little fish swimming around yet this morning; if they were ready
to hatch & conditions in the hatching tank were favorable, how soon
after wetting could I reasonable expect to see fry?

Just getting a wee bit anxious here.....
