RE: [Killietalk] Hatching Brine shrimp questions (continued)

Erny,

You might want to check the label of the paper towel, as I've heard that
some paper towels have some nasty chemicals used during the production
process. I was warned by a fish buddy to use food-consumption grade
items, such as coffee filters since they are intended to be used with
food items before they are consumed. Maybe it was all just rubbish, but
now I only use paper towels for clean up, and not filtering anymore.

Since a few guys suggested handkerchiefs, and I don't own any, I tried
one of our thin cloth napkins. It worked pretty well, and I don't think
I lost much of my hatch. My hatch wasn't so good, probably because it
didn't have light during the full 24 hour period I gave it to hatch, and
the temp. was off. So I've added light and have the temp. set to 80DF,
and tomorrow nights hatch should be better.

Thanks again to everyone for your help!

I have found that straining the hatched shrimp through Bounty Paper
towel
works well. I fold it to make a cone or just use a piece to line a
strainer.
The
paper towel stays intact when I rinse off the bbs; works well, does not
pass
any bbs and is cost effective.
