[Killietalk] Battery Back-up for fish room

I would like to know how many fish keepers are using a battery back-up system 
for a central air pump and heaters.  I know of a commercial one available 
from Jehmco, but it costs over $300.  I don't mind spending the money if it can 
help the fish room from crashing but I am wondering if there are less expensive 
models, if this is an appliance that can easily be rigged up from spare 
parts, and what the limitations are on it.  Any help or advice would be greatly 
appreciated.
