Further testing and experiments has brought me to a different conclusion. I
now believe that with the Clorox method, I could actually save money or at
least it seems that way. My normal procedure has been to hatch two bottles every
other day with one tablespoonful of BS eggs in each. That has provided me with
enough to feed all my fish and get a second harvest the next day. The second
harvest came from the mixture of eggs and brine shrimp that were not easily
separated and were returned for more aeration and time. With the Clorox
decapsulation, I now believe that I can change my procedure to one tablespoonful of
Brine shrimp eggs every other day and there will be no second harvest from
unhatched and baby brine shrimp. Now I am losing that second harvest but I am
cutting my brine shrimp egg consumption in half which more than compensates for the
cost of the Clorox. The loss of that second harvest is not as great as it
might seem, since it is often past its prime or dead when I get around to it. So
the alternate days I will need to find another food, which is a good thing for
variety's sake. Or, I could make a smaller (half tablespoonful) hatch every
day since I will not have the other bottle tied up with a second harvest. I will
post some pictures of the separated and decapsulated eggs on Member's Gallery.
