Re: [Killietalk] American Flag Fish
The males are very colorful and the females are plain. Watch out! they
love to eat plants. In fact, to keep them in good health, you must feed
them greens, especially algae. They breed like the chichlids and care for
their young. You can take the eggs out and hatch them alone from their
parents. You can experiment both ways.
Sincerely,
Bro. Paul

Subject: [Killietalk] American Flag Fish
Hello list, my name is Ben. I am just starting to get into the Killiefish
hobby. I purchased some American Flag Fish (Jordanella floridae) and i'm
having a really hard time figuring out what sex my fish are. I know that
the males and females have the big black eye just below the start of the
dorsal fin. It is said on many web sites that females have another "eye"
on the rear of the dorsal fin, outlined by a white iris. All of my fish
have some form of black spot on the rear of the dorsal fin. One fish (#1)
in particular has a very obvious black eye with a white iris, and no red
fins anywhere else on its body, however another fish (#2) has a slightly
visible blackish marking on the rear of the dorsal fin and has red anal
fins. I know that #1 is female, but what is #2?
thanks for your help.
