[Killietalk] Aphanius Collected
While on Bayram holiday here in Turkey, I have traveled to the Denizli area and
today collected what I suspect are Aphanius anatoliae transgrediens from Acý
Göl (Lake Acý). I am using Ruud's collection data to help me. I collected a
good amount and hope I can keep them alive until I get back home to Istanbul.
The lake is large and almost dry at this time but there were some remaining
large puddles where I walked to and collected. The lake is heavily salted and
the dried salt layers are everwhere - interesting look on the dried plants. I
am using public transportation here and it's nowhere near as convenient as
having a car and being able to travel at will like Roger and I did in
Venezuela.
When I get back to "the bul", I'll see if digital pics are possible and send
some. Also collcted some gambusia in a drainage ditch that I initially thought
might be killi's until I saw the pecker on the male and that dashed my hopes.
