RE: [Killietalk] Flow-thru/Rec. Systems with Various sp. of Kill

My spawning racks are not continuous flow but they are set up as common
siphon.
That is I have one siphon out tube and individual siphon tubes in each
tank.
The tanks are on the racks in banks of species with similar water
requirements
and the banks of the same water are seperated from the main siphon out
with T
valves. Sounds complicated but pretty easy to do with PVC and a saw.
By
changing which valves are open to the out siphon I can drop the water
level in
that bank without affecting the other banks. Refilling one tank in the
group
will refill all the tanks in that group. If all T valves are shut the
siphon
is primed and ready to go for the next time. Thus I can keep soft water
fish
in soft water and my Nothos in slightly harder water.

John,
Thanks for the welcome aboard!
Your filtration system sounds like a really nice one, and I'm guessing
that all your spawning tanks are permanently in place, because of the
shared siphon. One question I do have is where do you have the siphon
level set? For a 1/2 water change? Also, do you have a system in place
to do the refills, say from some storage tanks on the top shelf? Sounds
like a great system to me.
Thanks,
Mark
