This is just my solution to this. I am sure there are better ones.
I constructed a flow through fry system similar to the one detailed on the AKA
site. Through this I run tap water (my tap water is 200 ppm, GH 4) to which I
add 1 T / 5 gal. Instant Ocean salt. I use this for all killie fry no matter
what Genus. I hatch annuals into this water.
My spawning racks are not continuous flow but they are set up as common siphon.
That is I have one siphon out tube and individual siphon tubes in each tank.
The tanks are on the racks in banks of species with similar water requirements
and the banks of the same water are seperated from the main siphon out with T
valves. Sounds complicated but pretty easy to do with PVC and a saw. By
changing which valves are open to the out siphon I can drop the water level in
that bank without affecting the other banks. Refilling one tank in the group
will refill all the tanks in that group. If all T valves are shut the siphon
is primed and ready to go for the next time. Thus I can keep soft water fish
in soft water and my Nothos in slightly harder water.
