Re: [Killietalk] Chlorine removal
I only do anything to remove chlorine/chloromines on fry tanks and large water changes. Doing a 20% water change weekly and not removing chlorine has never seemed to bother my fish or plants. I'm sure some of the fish medications we use are more irritant than a miniscule amount of chlorine/chloramine.

I use about $3.50 worth of purchased "ginger carbon" and get about 6 months
use (twice now) out of it at a rate that has been variable as I build and
extend my water system. I would guess that I put about 7,000 gallons through it
before it began to test faintly positive for chlorine. That 7,000 gallons is
based on about 40 tanks at <1 gph for 2 hours a day which I think comes to 40
tanks x 1 gph x180 days = 7,200. This last time I changed it I used a "free" door
prize of "Black Diamond" carbon. Even if my estimate is off by a twofold
error, it seems cheap for the carbon.
