And even more complicated is the difference between two ions like sodium and 
potassium. Each has a different relationship. I established a correlation by 
diluting my tap water with Distilled water and checking the measurement at 
several points, That is, Conductivity vs., TDS as displayed on the meter. As Dr. 
Charles says, it is the relative differences that are important. Change, if too 
big, will destroy the gill membranes of the fish.
