How do you customize the tank? What function does it serve? >>
The two I have were made by Allen Johnson and he made them many years ago and
sold some in our local auction. I will post a picture when I get a chance.
Basically they are about 3.5 gallons outside dimensions— 12 x 12 x 6 inches.
Inside there is a raised floor covering about 75% of the bottom and at one end
there is a full depth depression. There is a 1 inch lip that keeps food from
going into the deeper part which provides a container for the peat moss. In the
picture I will post there is also a conventional peat dish in the shallow part.
These fish (Maratecoara lacortei) sometimes prefer one site over the other. I
don't know why they choose different places to spawn, but I want to oblige
them.
