For anyone who's cares, I've just started adding pic's of my handy-dandy new fishroom to the members gallery on the AKA site - Das MORT Fishroom, which includes the following;
1)Cheap, easy, efficient rack system
2)Centralized flow-through water change, filtering
3)did I mention cheap..
I've been working on this design for ALOOOONG time. I 1st wanted a gravity flow-through, no drilled tanks and as little plumbing as possible, and I found few fishroom pic's on the WEB to help in the process.
Then Christmas came early, we ended up buying a new house, stumbled on a GREAT deal on drilled 10gal tanks(which wasn't in the plan, but the cost solved that), and talking to Ross Cronhite closed the deal.
I originally had planned the normal "stacked" racks, you know the ones, the Neato Rack (On your knees and toes)for the top and bottom. Anyway, Ross talked me into "stair-stepping them, thank God I listened.
Anyway, the only problem was finding "cheap" bulkheads, couldn't so I created them. The hole was 1"OD, anyway later pictures will show that the overflow tube isn't glued in and DOESN'T leak, and in this way I can pull it and empty the tanks in no time flat. I'm working on 2 more sets of racks, same senario, except one with shoeboxes for fry. Eventually I'll put together a detailed article, but the pictures will probably be enough. I possibly will add optional slides on some of the tanks for dividers, just incase I should want 1 or 2 more species, nah! :-).
