[Killietalk] RE: Microfex

Bob,

A quick search of the web on Dero digitata (aka microfex???) produced some
results that were not too encouraging. A paper was cited that the worm was
host to a parasite causing PGD Poliferative Gill Disease. Another link
connected the worms as a host for the whirling disease of trout.

It appears they behave like tubifex and if I am not mistaking you will find
them in your tank when the water conditions get really, really, really bad.
I get them on occasion in tanks that I have given up on and have not yet
cleaned. These might be the same worms you see at the meniscus.
