Re: [Killietalk] digi cam, was bitaeniatum "Majitam"

Scott,
I am shooting with the camera about 2 inches from the glass . Have not had too much problem with the focusing as you mention. The auto focus seems to be ok unless you are hurrying the shot. My biggest problem is getting the fish to stay fairly motionless long enough to take a shot. Hence all of your tail shots. I built a glass tank that is 2 inches wide but that does not keep the fish from traveling the whole tank which is about 10" X 12". I just try to be atient and wait for the right moment. I get a lot of junk shots but thats what is nice about the digital. It is easy to trash the photo and try again. Like I said I am just learning but I do get a good picture now and then.

Hi George!

Are you shooting 2" in front of the glass or the fish? The autofocus on my
G3 was driving me nuts until a more experienced person suggested putting the
camera right up on the glass to "fool" the autofocus into focusing on the
killie.

The manual over ride on that camera is a bad joke. (What's that phrase about
a fool and his money?) I do like the G3 except for the difficulty focusing
on killies and other fishes. (Wanna see my collection of tail shots?)

All the best,

Scott

Remember on most cameras there is the macro mode which allows you to get

pretty close in most cases. With the Canon powershot G3 shooting 2" away is
no problem.
