Re: [Killietalk] F. Theirryi
I'd have to agree with Lee. They need some salt in the water, since they
are susceptible to velvet (no surprise there), but they have been very
prolific for me. I have had the "Ghana 94/1" strain going for a few years
now.
The eggs have a pretty big tolerance for incubation times, too. I've
hatched them at eight weeks and eight months, with no appreciable problems
at either end. Just make sure you have infusoria handy for the first few
days.

I found them to be remarkably easy to breed. They laid eggs anywhere -
peat,
greensand or bare tank. The eggs hatched in six weeks either incubated in
peat
or in water. The fry are tiny but with some rotifers and green water they
soon are big enough to eat newly hatched brine shrimp. Soon after that they
are
laying eggs at 1/2 inch size. My only fault I can find with them is they
are
too small for my aged eyes to fully appreciate.
