Re: [Killietalk] Raising Killifish Fry in Pond

I have raised some in out door half whisky barrels. These were not large
enough to produce a huge number of fish, but they produced very healthy
specimens. My Whisky barrels have lots of pond plants in them with a dirt
bottom. One year I threw in a bag of sjo eggs and at the end of the summer
pulled out 9 very large healthy fish. I have had some SJO's in my garage for
several months now. I got them as sub adults. They are still not as big and
as pretty as the ones I raised outside that went from egg to large adults in
a little over 3 months.

I also threw in (to a separate barrel some aquarium strain gardneri that no
one wanted at an auction. I bid a buck for them, I figured what what the
heck. At the end of the summer I pulled out about 40 gardneri of various
sizes.
