[Killietalk] Announcement from the BOT

[This message is sent on behalf of Edd Kray]

Dear AKA Members,

After years of controversy, this year's BOT has listened and approved the activation of an online Fish & Egg Listing on the AKA webpage. We have called the system "AKA Online Classifieds" and it will be active as of this morning. It provides an opportunity to list not only fish and eggs, but items such as foods, cultures, plants etc. I need to provide special thanks to Dr. Barry Cooper for preparing the system and making this all possible.

Use of this system is a privilege of membership so only AKA members will be able to post and read ads. You will find a link to the system in the members-only section of the AKA website. Remember that you will need your AKA membership number and password, as issued by the membership committee, to get access to the members only area.

An exciting feature of the system is that there is an area in which the New & Rare Species Committee (the rebirth of which is announced in the October BNL) will list fish simultaneously with the listing in the BNL.

I am extremely proud of the 2003 BOT ( Catherine Carney, Matt Kaufman, Joe Scanlan, Peter Tirbak, Tom Grady, Jack Heller, Greg Simpson and Monty Lehman) for listening to the membership and pushing to make this happen.

So, get your passwords out and start listing your available fish and other killie-related items today if you have them. We hope that this service will complement the BNL F&EL and that it will make it easier for those members with limited numbers of fish to distribute to do so.
