I will try the bleach suggestion. Chloramine is not a factor as the local 
water company does not use it. If they had , I should also be seeing problems 
with the fish as well since they do get 50% tap water in the weekly water 
changes. 

I do use a hydrometer when mixing up the salt solution and have always used 
the same level - 1.021 - for hatching. 

I have examined the eggs after 24 and 48 hours and there is no sign of hatch 
on all but a few. Same eggs (same can) that were hatching earlier without a 
problem in 36 hours with super hatches. 

I'm sure I'll find a solution eventually.
