I don't know if the charcoal filter in the ro system removes chlorimine or
not, but maybe you are now getting it in your water. I have had a
"dis-similar" problem occasionally where the eggs hatch and you get nothing
but orange slime. Have had that happen in two adjacent jars strarted the
same day. Tried RO, salt, pH, temp, added baking soda. Nothing helped and
as quickly as it came, it went away within the week. Another water company
additive, zinc orthophosphate, sometimes used by water companies to coat
piping and control corrosion can cause havoc, but a RO system will remove
it. If you did not add baking soda to the ro water, usually pH will go nuts
when you throw in the salt and get acidic.
