RE: [Killietalk] Vinegar eels

I use vinegar eels in the first couple days after flooding peat on all annuals.

Not that the are not usually big enough to take microworms and bbs on hatching
but the eels stay alive longer, swim in the water column, and do not sink into
and foul the peat. This way when I dry the peat to incubate and flood again in
a month it is now foul. After a couple few days the peat is all water saturated
and on the bottom and it is much easier to pick out the fry into new
containers. Many people feel that leaving fry over peat for their first few
days is a good idea.
