Regarding size of images. I have loads of photos sent to me for insertion in
the West African database. My regular online contributors are now instructed
to reduce the size of the image to the pixel size of my requirements. This
is usually 260 pixels in length. By doing this the resolution can be bumped
up to produce a clearer image.
These images are precropped. Web use is all about size & speed of download.
Images on my site are fairly closely cropped to produce a better image. This
is not for magazine publication.
Many images in my site are reduced to below 10 kb.
